Tone Down Volume On Your iPod/MP3 Or Go Deaf.

CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta talks about the dangers of loud iPod volume on user’s hearing.

It depends on how loud the volume is and for how long one is listening. Listening in noisy environments without noise cancellation earphones poses biggest danger as user is tempted to increase volume.

He warns that listening at volume 85 dB for a prolonged and repeated period or at 100 dB for 15minutes is all that is needed to cause irreversible hearing loss.

He recommends maximum volume of 60 dB and avoid use in noisy environments.

Manufactures of iPods/MP3 should take such information into consideration in future gadgets.
